Boy or Girl...the BIG day!!

When you become an adult Christmas just doesn't bring the same excitement it used to as a child...unless you are about to find out the sex of your baby!  We anxiously awaited our appointment on Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010 for our early Christmas present.  Everyone of course predicts what they think you are having.  I honestly didn't have a "feeling" either way.  I wanted to have a little fun with the announcement so we took a picture of Holly with the boy? and girl? signs.  I don't think she was too thrilled about being a "big sister" especially after having a little surgery that week.  We arrived at the office and excitedly waited to be called back with Donna to the ultra sound room.  Donna joined in with the fun and taped the "sign" indicating the sex behind us.  Then she took our picture so that she could could capture our "true" reaction.  Low and behold...it was a BOY!!!

Our first doctor's appointment

Our first doctor's appointment was on Wednesday, September 29, 2010.  Kevin met me from work at the office right on time.  We nervously went upstairs to sign in and waited to be called not knowing what to expect.  I assumed that I would be having a blood test or meeting with Dr. Brothers first, but were actually taken back to the ultra sound room.  Donna was our technician and we couldn't have asked to go through this experience with anyone better!  She truly makes you feel so welcome and comfortable.  We were amazed as she carefully explained every step and showed us our little peanut.  We were shocked as we heard the little heartbeat!  It is truly an amazing life experience that no one can prepare you for!

Monday, September 6, 2010 Reveling the news...

Well it all started at my friend April's wedding, when I started to not feel well.  Shaking it off as a long, hectic wedding weekend I didn't think anything of it.  That was until we were at the Pittsburgh Airport and I started to feel a little nauseous.  We arrived back in Naples that evening and as Kevin watched opening weekend of college football, I decided to take the big test.  The positive symbol appeared almost immediately and I was a little taken aback. I proceeded downstairs to share the news with "daddy" in the midst of the football game.  I wish I had brought a camera with me to capture his priceless reaction, but I know he'll never forget "where he was" when I announced the big news.  I took 3 tests just to be sure!! I called the doctor the next day and the 7 week wait began until our first appointment.
